Relational therapy
We are shaped in relationship, and we can heal in relationship too.
What it is
Relational therapy pays close attention to how you connect with others, including the therapist. What happens in the room becomes a live, workable example of patterns from the rest of your life.
The therapist is a real participant, not a blank screen. That honesty makes it possible to try new ways of relating in real time.
What it can help with
- Loneliness or difficulty with closeness.
- Conflict and repeating relationship dynamics.
- Trust and vulnerability.
- People pleasing or losing yourself in relationships.
What a session is like
We talk about your relationships and also about our own. If something in a session feels off, or especially good, we can explore it together.
Over time, the therapy relationship becomes a place to practice being more fully yourself.
Common questions
- Is relational therapy only for couples? No. It is most often used in individual therapy.
- Will the therapist share about themselves? Sometimes, thoughtfully, when it serves your work.
